Stress
Stress literally means “tension” or “pressure.” There’s a difference between healthy stress, like before an exciting event, and unhealthy stress that lasts for a longer time. Stress symptoms can show up in your body, mind, behavior, or thoughts. Think of a rapid heartbeat, increased breathing, irritability, restlessness, trouble concentrating or sleeping, and turning to things like alcohol, drugs, or food. Over Kim Walma

Kim is a Healthcare Psychologist at iPractice. At first we will explore where the current problems have their origins, to have a better understanding of you. As you learn to understand your own thoughts and behaviour better, it is possible to make a positive change. Kim will guide you in the right direction in accordance with you. For this ‘therapy journey’ she uses her experience in the hospital and her experience with stress related (un)explained physical problems. In her treatment Kim uses different methods: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, EMDR, exposure and schema therapy.

Kim earned her Master in Psychology at the University of Leiden and specialised as a healthcare psychologist at the HagaZiekenhuis (hospital) in The Hague. After her working period in the hospital she worked at a department specialised in the relationship between mental and physical health. Kim provides treatment in Dutch and English.
